SJ Rozan, Guest of Honor
Guest of Honor, SJ Rozan, a former architect in a practice that focused on police stations, firehouses, and zoos, was born and raised in the Bronx and is a life-long New Yorker. She's the author of eleven books in the Lydia Chin/Bill Smith series. She also has two standalones, has edited two short story anthologies, and her own three dozen short stories have been published in various periodicals and anthologies, including a number of "Best of the Year" collections. She's won the Edgar, Shamus, Anthony, Nero, and Macavity Awards for Best Novel, as well as the Japanese Maltese Falcon Award, and the Edgar for Best Short Story.
SJ has been a Mystery Writers of America National Board member, a Sisters in Crime National Board member, and President of the Private Eye Writers of America. She speaks and lectures widely, this past spring delivering the keynote address at Singapore Management University at a conference on "Women in the Community: Sustaining Change" and attending the Shanghai Literary Festival as an invited guest. In 2003 she spoke at the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. She was Guest of Honor at the Left Coast Crime convention in El Paso, TX, in 2005, and Keynote Speaker at the Yosemite Writers' Conference in 2005. In 2006 she was a Master Artist at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, FL. In 2009 she served as Toastmaster at Bouchercon, the World Mystery Convention. SJ teaches crime writing each summer in the Art Workshops International program in Assisi, Italy.
